10.23.12 A season of rest

The crisis of the last few weeks is over. Peter has come through the intense illness and pain he was in. We are still not sure if it was an infection or a virus, but we thought he was going to be leaving us to go and be with Jesus. He is regaining his strength and is out of pain. We are so thankful. I currently have this scripture on the white board in our home, and just reading it gives me peace and a sense of relief.
Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28
We are in a season of calm and rest right now. Peter has a rhythm to his day. After the morning routine he has some really good hours in the middle of the day. This is our best visiting time. The kids often stop by for lunch to see him. In the late afternoon he needs to rest, and in the evening sometimes he gets up, and sometimes he needs to continue rest. He sleeps really well all night… so you think I would too, but the ear of a caregiver never really goes off duty. I would love to tell you that his ALS has slowed down or stopped, but it has not… this disease is heartless and progressive. However, as we enter this wonderful season of fall, harvest, Thanksgiving and Christmas, Peter and I are hopeful for continued time together with family and friends. Thank you so much for your prayers, financial support, meals, encouragement, emails, visits, house and yard keeping.

“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Isn’t it just like Jesus to give us special words for evey time, day or season of our life. But you Drea are His special daughter because you seek Him and you know His words personally and hold them in your heart. He knows your name He sees you watching and caring for the love of your life. As with you, and futunate for us, our Father never goes goes off duty. I pray that He continues to give you strenght when you are weak and that peace that we surely can never understand. You are a beautiful woman Andrea Thank you for showing us what Love is.
