10.4.12 Peter medical update

Dear friends and family,

Peter has had a fever, exploding headache, shortness of breath and all over body aches. All of this is being complicated by his ALS. It has been hard to determine what the cause of this onset is. The doctor thinks he may have aspirated and something went into his lungs and has caused an infection, but we are not sure. It could also just be where he is at in the disease.  He is on a high dose antibiotic now.  We have had a hospice nurse at his bedside 24/7 for the last day and half.  We have been giving him morphine for the pain. We ask that you continue to pray for Peter’s recovery.
As of this afternoon, his fever has broken but he still has a long way to go, and his system is already weak. The kids and I have been together at the house with him. We find comfort in just being together. Thank you for your incredible love and support.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”

  6. Oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear this. I imagine this time for you right now is filled with anguish, and yet, if I know you at all, I assume it’s also a very loving and beautiful time. (Our own experience when our son had cancer causes me to say this). The example of your love and devotion to each other is HUGE to all of us who have been witnesses to it these last few years of yours. And Peter’s example simply leaves me without words to express what his faith and graciousness, in such a difficult time, means to me!

Though I truly have prayed for you often, I have been so touched by your example, that I FINALLY have reopened my Bible, so that I could share some of my thoughts with you. To God’s glory, your example inspired me to do this!

My prayers continue to be with you. I know God’s timing, and Peter’s, will be perfect when this life ends and a new one begins.

Much love to you from me!
